Rev Perran Gay

It’s a joy to be able to spend 10 weeks with you all from Advent to Candlemas, and especially to celebrate the joy of Christmas together. I’ve not been to Tenerife before, but have served a couple of times within your Archdeaconry as a locum chaplain at Nerja on the Costa del Sol.

My active ministry was all within the Diocese of Truro in my native Cornwall, as a curate at Bodmin, as Bishop’s Chaplain, and then for 21 years as a residentiary canon of Truro Cathedral, where my particular role was to supervise the worship and music of the Cathedral. I also served on the Church of England’s General Synod and a handful of national committees and

commissions. In 2015, my wife Rainy and I moved to the Isles of Scilly where I served as Chaplain for 7 years, and where we are now based in retirement.

We love walking, bird watching, and generally being in the great outdoors, and so are much looking forward to discovering the delights of Tenerife during our stay. And we also love being with church communities large and small and sharing in their joys and sorrows, especially at times when they are waiting for the appointment of a new permanent priest.

We look forward to meeting you very soon!
