A plethora of bars and eateries can be found in the vicinity, some with views of the church. Giant rock formations rise from the sea to a height of 500-800 metres, and exhilarating coastal walks offer incredible views. Boat trips are available from the nearby harbour, to marvel at the whales and dolphins, and various water-sports are also on offer ## How to get there. ## More pics of Los Gigantes Church This beautiful church is situated in the Plaza Bougainvillea, Los Gigantes in the Municipality of Santiago Del Teide. It has modern stained glass windows, a large painting behind the altar depicting the Disciples (some known residents of Los Gigantes). Inset into the walls are three dimensional representations of the Stations of the Cross. Address: Pje. Acacia, 27, 38683 Santiago del Teide, Santa Cruz de Tenerife The official opening of the church was in May 1997 by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Tenerife. It is now shared for worship by both Roman Catholics and Anglicans. The church is open to visitors daily with Anglican services on **Thursdays at 10.30 am and Sundays at 6pm** throughout the year. Following the Thursday morning service we meet for **fellowship** in the Sangria cafe opposite the square. Travelling north with the sea on your left, take the exit marked San Juan, Alcala, Puerto de Santiago, Los Gigantes, taking a left which will lead you down a long hill, about 6 kms. At the bottom at the roundabout, turn right, followthe signs to Puerto de Santiago and Los Gigantes passing through the village of Alcala and continue some 4 kms until you come to the second roundabout just after the police and fire stations (Bomberos), on your left. Turn left. At the 4th sharp bend fork right (taking you effectively straight ahead), and then bear left into the one-way system which will take you down to Los Gigantes. At the bottom of the hill turn right. If you are able to park on the road on which you are travelling you need to pay at a machine (you can return to the machine to get your money back when you are ready to leave!). However, parking is free in the evenings, Sundays and public holidays. Many people park on one of the side streets which are unrestricted. The church is situated in the main square and is very easy to find, opposite the shops, cafes, banks etc. If you are travelling from Armeñime, Playa Paraiso, Callao Salvaje or San Juan: You take the TF-47 in the direction of Puerto de Santiago and Los Gigantes (i.e. north with the sea on your left). When you get to Alcala, the directions are as above. --- ## URL: https://www.anglicanchurchtenerife.com/canon-michael-rees ### Title: Canon Michael Rees ### Page ID: 8905623 ### Content: # Canon Michael Lloyd Rees Thank you for inviting me back to be your Locum Priest. It’s a joy and pleasure to serve you. When I retired here in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion in June 2015, having spent 41 years in full-time ministry in the Diocese of St Davids, Anglican Church in Wales, my first Chaplaincy Locum in the Diocese of Europe was with you in November 2015. Being with you on several occasions, I then served many Locums at Puerta de la Cruz, Fontainebleau in France, Mojcar, Costa Almeria/Calida, Spain, Costa del Sol West, Spain, Costa del Sol East, Spain, Lanzarote and Madeira. Amen. ” The one absolutely unequivocal statement of the divinity of Jesus in the whole Gospel comes from the mouth of ‘doubting Thomas.’ From the first Easter onwards, Jesus became central to the disciples’ understanding and worship of God. We are currently in a period of interregnum and our locum priest is Rev Alex Gordon As a body of believers, we uphold the centrality and exclusivity of the gospel. We believe that Jesus Christ, who is God incarnate, is the only way of salvation and that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant scripture Word of God. We are part of the world wide church of God,working together with Christians of other traditions, seeking together to achieve full unity which is our Lord's desire for his church. Even though our personal time with God on a regular basis is important, it is always part of being church, being community, being members together of a movement that Jesus called into being. The Greek word for church, ecclesia, means just that, people called together. The Anglican Church of St.Francis uses three worship centres in Tenerife South. The Chaplaincy covers the southern half of the Island of Tenerife, with a loose boundary stretching from Candelaria in the east, to Teno in the west. St.Francis Church also has responsibility for the smaller islands of La Gomera and El Hierro although no work has been started there. In 1987 the Chaplain in the North started an ‘Outreach’ project concluding with a feasibility study, commissioned by the Bishop to determine the needs of the southern part of the island. The report recommended the formation of a separate Chaplaincy in the south.  Tenerife has a long Anglican presence in the Island. From when the Anglican Church in Santa Cruz was closed until 1991 the Northern Chaplaincy based in Puerto de la Cruz, was responsible for ministering to all the Anglicans in the island. The Chaplaincy of South Tenerife was recognised by the Spanish Ministry of Justice in May 1991. Worship had begun in the San Eugenio Church and by May 1997 Espiritu Santo Church in Los Gigantes was opened. The church at San Blas on the Golf del Sur was started in 2002. In this way you will have a full marriage certificate registered in the UK with full UK legal status and the blessing of the union by the church Many couples choose to reaffirm their wedding vows on their special anniversary combining the event with a holiday and Tenerife certainly offers a beautiful setting to do that in. Prior to service we will discuss with you any special requirements, We will do our best to make your day a special and memorable event. ***A deposit will be required to confirm the booking which can be paid either in Sterling or Euros.*** With panoramic views of the ocean, this beautiful, whitewashed church is situated in an area featuring small bars and restaurants. Golf del Sur boasts a nature reserve and a first-class golf course and offers opportunities for invigorating coastal walks. “When my husband and I wanted to renew our marriage vows after 25 years and have a blessing we knew there was only one place we wanted to go and that was the lovely intimate church in San Blas, Golf Del Sur. From booking the church and making the arrangements to the actual day was perfect. Marisha made all the arrangements and answered all of our questions, taking all the stress away. We met with Rev. John Poole who once again answered questions and tailormade our service for us. The church is in the centre of a small quaint village next to the ocean so perfect for photos afterwards. I cannot thank and praise everyone enough at the church that helped my husband and I create wonderful memories of that day” The church is in a pivotal position for tourists, with many places of interest in the vicinity. Siam Park, voted the world's premier water attraction for seven consecutive years, acts like a magnet to visitors from everywhere. In addition, Siam Mall has a vast array of shops, popular with holiday-makers and residents alike. Nestling in the popular town is this quaint church. A plethora of bars and eateries can be found in the vicinity, some with views of the church. Giant rock formations rise from the sea to a height of 500-800 metres, and exhilarating coastal walks offer incredible views. Boat trips are available from the nearby harbour, to marvel at the whales and dolphins, and various water-sports are also on offer If you would like to arrange your wedding or blessing at one of our churches, please contact our Lay Reader, Marisha Carter at marishacarter@hotmail.com - [Home](/ "Home") - [San Blas](/san-blas "San Blas") - [San Eugenio](/san-eugenio "San Eugenio") - [Los Gigantes](/los-gigantes "Los Gigantes") - [Home](/ "Home") - [San Blas](/san-blas "San Blas") - [San Eugenio](/san-eugenio "San Eugenio") - [Los Gigantes](/los-gigantes "Los Gigantes") - [Resources](/resources "Resources") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Safeguarding Policy](/safeguarding-policy "Safeguarding Policy") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Resources](/resources "Resources") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Safeguarding Policy](/safeguarding-policy "Safeguarding Policy") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") --- ## URL: https://www.anglicanchurchtenerife.com/funerals ### Title: Funerals ### Page ID: 7306278 ### Content: ## Funerals and Memorial Services The Anglican Church of St. Francis provides both funerals and memorial services in English. Funerals can be in any of the churches we use or others with permission, followed if required by a short service at the Crematorium. Alternatively the whole ceremony can take place at the Crematorium. As funerals in Tenerife generally take place within a few days of the passing away, relatives very often choose to have a memorial service sometime after the funeral enabling more friends and relatives to attend. For sometime and for various reasons, the council of St. Francis Church decided that we needed a new website which would be a window into the life of St. Francis and a tool to help us in our mission of reaching out to all who come to Tenerife. Initial enquiries were made around the Archdeaconry to see how others promoted their church; all looked very good. So... we were not to imagine that a visit to a local cobbler's shop was to end with what we believe to be great website. I went in with my few words of carefully rehearsed Spanish to get shoe polish. Immediately I was greeted with 'we speak English' , phew that was a relief. The lady who spoke explained that she didn't actually work there, she was there to help the business set up a website. From that moment on a great relationship began with our web builder Alex Marcano, who is from South America, now living in Tenerife, having married a Canarian. She has embraced wholeheartedly our concept of having a friendly, easy to navigate, site which captured our beliefs as a church, gave accurate information that would lead any visitor through our doors and encourage our congregations in their Christian walk. The work began with several meetings between her, myself and John. She led us gently though the intricacies of what was possible (slowly, as neither of us are techno wizzes). For our part, we were to provide photos, scripts for each of our three churches, links and other vital information. The work had begun. Material for checking arrived almost daily into our inboxes.  A new website anglicanchurchtenerife.com has been born. Of course there will be more to add as we go along and we are still learning how to manage it but I think we can safely say what might have been called just a chance encounter really turned out to be A God Incidence. - [Home](/ "Home") - [San Blas](/san-blas "San Blas") - [San Eugenio](/san-eugenio "San Eugenio") - [Los Gigantes](/los-gigantes "Los Gigantes") - [Home](/ "Home") - [San Blas](/san-blas "San Blas") - [San Eugenio](/san-eugenio "San Eugenio") - [Los Gigantes](/los-gigantes "Los Gigantes") - [Resources](/resources "Resources") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Safeguarding Policy](/safeguarding-policy "Safeguarding Policy") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Resources](/resources "Resources") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Safeguarding Policy](/safeguarding-policy "Safeguarding Policy") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") --- ## URL: https://www.anglicanchurchtenerife.com/bethlehem-peace-centre ### Title: The Bethlehem Peace centre ### Page ID: 7306290 ### Content: # The Bethlehem Peace centre and the Belen Exhibition ## Photos ## Courtesy of  Elizabeth Thomas of her nativity scenes; one from Peru and the other from Africa. Five years ago I had the  privilege to go the Holy land. Many churches and places of Biblical interest were visited as you would imagine. Having celebrated the Nativity of our Lord it reminded me of my visit to Bethlehem. One can't go there without a visit to the Church of the Nativity which was built over the place which it is thought Jesus was born. It is now far removed from what was in my mind's eye of His birth place but still a moving place where hundreds and thousands have worshipped over generations. Also in Manger Square is the Peace centre which was built to celebrate the Millennium. What took my interest was an exhibition of Nativity scenes from around the world. It was a bit of a surprise. Many countries from Japan, to Africa, Russia and the European countries had produced in their eyes what they imagined the stable with the Mary, Joseph, shepherds, kings and the baby Jesus looked like. We all know that Jesus was Jewish and no doubt would have looked like anyone the Middle East. However, in the scenes produced were Chinese looking people, African people, people in their National costumes from around the world  representing the Holy family.  It made me think..... for generations Jesus has been portrayed as a white person so was it so wrong for other countries to portray Him looking like their people. Who am I to say how He should be viewed in the mind's eye? If I were to ask anyone what they thought he would like I am sure each view would be different. Even here in Tenerife we have black Madonnas.  Jesus came for all and died for all, regardless of colour or nationality. His own looks, or ours are not too important; he came to save that which is more than skin deep, our very Souls. - [Home](/ "Home") - [San Blas](/san-blas "San Blas") - [San Eugenio](/san-eugenio "San Eugenio") - [Los Gigantes](/los-gigantes "Los Gigantes") - [Home](/ "Home") - [San Blas](/san-blas "San Blas") - [San Eugenio](/san-eugenio "San Eugenio") - [Los Gigantes](/los-gigantes "Los Gigantes") - [Resources](/resources "Resources") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Safeguarding Policy](/safeguarding-policy "Safeguarding Policy") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Resources](/resources "Resources") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Safeguarding Policy](/safeguarding-policy "Safeguarding Policy") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") --- ## URL: https://www.anglicanchurchtenerife.com/god-speaks-we-hear ### Title: God speaks, we hear. ### Page ID: 7306295 ### Content: # God speaks, we hear. ## Thank you for ## Sharing your stories. God has always wanted to be in relationship with us, to communicate with us. I have been thinking how does it work in practice, what has been my experience? When I was young it was largely a one way conversation with me doing the talking. I was quite happy to know he was listening; I didn't have much expectation that God would be answering back, not in any direct way.  Having come from an evangelical background the scriptures were very important and were considered the normal way for God to be in contact. That of course is still true. He lovingly speaks to me through his Word. I can't tell you the amount of times I have come across a scripture which I have undoubtedly read lots of times when suddenly I find it speaking directly into the current situation. I am also very aware that the Lord uses other people to give me a little nudge, to remind me of  his presence in my life. There has been times when I have heard very audibly what is required of me, whether I am to put aside my fears and feelings or perhaps a need to forgive. Other ways too. About twenty five years ago or so I was going through a very bad time. I lived opposite a beach so often I found myself walking along that beach crying to God. It was a place of solace for me. As I walked along the tide line which had the usual flotsam and jetsam;  seaweed, shells and broken blue china my eye fell on a small piece of cream pottery with black writing on it. I picked it up. There written very small were the words 'never despair' Now the chances of me finding a very small piece of pottery, on a long beach with those exact words of encouragement to me have to be beyond calculation. I knew though that the God who made the innumerable stars had spoken to me. That piece of pottery is very precious to me; a constant reminder that my Father loves me. My personal prayer life has changed over the years in becoming more informal and conversational in nature. I found when using set prayers and a regular pattern of praise, seeking forgiveness and making supplications, that I gave little time for reflection. I also found that whilst the requests varied depending on what was concerning me most at the time, the other elements became somewhat repetitive such that I felt I was not truly engaged in them. In speaking to the Lord as I would a loved one or close friend, I find I give more time/space to listen. This is sometimes filled with my own reflection on what I have prayed, which can be helpful in itself, but every now and again a thought or prompt to act, that I would not have considered, arises and for me this encounter with God is a source of inspiration and strength. There have been times when I have felt overwhelmed by an event in my life Such as the death of a loved one or physical pain, and have been saved from drowning by an unspoken prayer that elicits a voice of calm and wisdom, rescuing me and deepening my faith, which has not always been unshaken. While travelling in the northern island of Luzon in the Philippines, my husband and I were on a bus on our way to Batad, a small town of 1500 people without any public services such as electricity, cell service, paved roads or even cars, but the best place to view the beautiful Ifugao rice terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Suddenly, on our way through the mountains, there were some very big rockslides, which prevented our passage. So we were isolated for about 5 hours on a dangerous road. This incident, thank God, did not cause any injuries, but forced us to change our itinerary, and sleep that night in the neighbouring Banaue; a village a bit bigger than Batad. While waiting for the road to be cleared out, I started to detail everything around me. The raindrops, the little houses in the mountain, the lush green of nature, the people buying fruit from the vendors, the curious details of that old bus, that had travelled that same route a million times before. Filipinos are very fervent Christians, and it is common for them to have bible verses painted everywhere. Our old bus was no exception. Above the door was painted the Psalm 121: 'The Lord shall preserve your going out and coming in from this time forth and forevermore.' Sometimes when travelling, as in life, there are unforeseen events, so it is normal to have to adjust, forget and keep going. **However, that day something happened that we will never forget.** I had my little bible with me, and my husband took it to read a little. He randomly opened the Bible, and you would never believe, it opened on the same page, Psalm 121 that was painted on the bus. What are the chances? There are over 30 thousand verses in the Bible! We were both amazed and stared at each other with big opened eyes. I should have been happy, but I don't know why, inside me, I had a bad feeling in my heart, and wondered why was I having that feeling. We finally arrived at Banaue and found a nice hostel with all the modern facilities like hot water and wifi, and the lady running the place was very nice and kind, She helped us planning our trip and gave us advice for the 'jeepney', the popular mean of transportation, to Batad for the next day. Just remembering that moment, brings tears to my eyes. My Dad was very ill with metastatic cancer back in Venezuela and I was so far away, over 16 thousand kilometres, at the other side of the world. We changed our flights, but while we were in the USA on our way to Venezuela, I received an email from my uncle telling me that my Dad passed away... and I couldn't hold him one last time. To my mind came the last time I saw his smile when he took us to the airport in Tenerife, a few months before. So I keep remembering that day when God told me He will preserve my coming and going. I don't have my dad with me anymore, but surely, I have someone bigger than everything watching for me. We must put all our trust in Him, secure in the knowledge that He can protect us. Sometimes there are obstacles on the road that won't allow us reaching our destination, but we must keep the faith as we don't know why these events happen. But God does. If we would have arrived that day at Batad, where there was no wifi or mobile coverage, we would have stayed days there without knowing about my father, and I wouldn't have been able to call him and say good-bye. Today, almost 8 years later, when I'm sad because I cannot feel his arm over my shoulder or listen to his smart advices anymore, I keep remembering that God told me He was with me that day on the bus, and He is with me every day and every moment on this journey called life. And that makes me so happy I'm having an advance of heaven here on earth. **Thank you, Lord. I cannot express in words my gratitude for your love.** For our Lord everything is possible and He speaks to us in many different ways. Do you ever feel that God is far away, and you need to know He is real to you again?. Maybe you wonder if you have been indoctrinated, and need to know whether the God of the Bible really is who He says He is. How do you cope with theories that conflict with your faith?. I didn’t want to believe the Bible if it wasn’t true, and I needed God to convince me He was real. I knew that if He was real, and the God of the Bible, that I should not put to a test, or seek signs, but I so needed Him to convince me. I decided to just ask Him to convince me, leaving the way, the time, and the place to His control, and discretion. I had previously felt spooked about anything super-natural and hoped that if God was out there, and if He really cared about me, He would not frighten me. I waited, hopefully, but determined to know for sure. One evening I visited a Christian couple who happened to have invited other friends to join them for prayer that evening. I joined in, and with a thimble full of faith, thanked God for sending Jesus to die on the cross for my sins. As others prayed, my mind wandered. Like in a daydream, with my eyes closed, I could see the door into the room open and a white cloud floated in. I opened my eyes and saw the door was closed. I closed my eyes, telling myself to pay attention to the prayers of the others. I could again see the open door, and the cloud floated over to me, and enveloped me. It was so gentle and peaceful, that I wasn’t at all spooked. It made me think of the dove of the Holy Spirit that rested upon Christ when He was baptised by John. Soon afterwards I read the scriptures Ephesians 1v14 & 4v30 and understood that God had sealed me, in His way, as His own. Exodus 13v21; 1 Kings 8v11; 2 Chronicles 5v14; Ezekiel 10v4 and other scriptures, speak of the presence and glory of the Lord being manifest as a cloud. He didn’t answer all my questions, but it was like He gave me a hug, and I knew He was so real that the questions just evaporated. 1 Chronicles 28v9 says “If you seek Him (God), He will be found by you.” If you truly want to know if God is real, let me encourage you to search for Him, for if you do so sincerely, and respectfully, Just let it be in His way, place and time and you will know YOU never made it happen. Thank you Ann for sharing your story. It is so encouraging to hear how our God comes to each of us in absolutely unique ways; thank you for sharing your life changing moment with us. Our vicar, Revd John Poole took the baptism and was very pleased that Alicia stayed asleep for the whole ceremony, including having the holy water poured onto her head! Alicia’s parents and godparents, José Ramos and Roxana Ortega, joined with the congregation at San Blas to welcome Alicia into the Church **"And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them."** - People like Rose have to walk for hours every day on dangerous journeys to collect water for their families.  However, Christian Aid’s partner, Anglican Development Services Eastern (ADSE) are supporting community to build earth dams.  With money raised by Christian Aid supporters, they are able to buy the resources necessary and the local communities built the dams themselves.  We heard about Florence who exudes joy in her face.  Thanks to the dam near her village, she is able to grow vegetables, feed her children and sell honey from the bees she keeps. She says “I have been sustained by the earth dam.  My life has changed.  I am very happy. You can see it in my face; my face is shining. I have strength and power.” In the reading from the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 10:44-48), Peter asked how can we withhold water from people?  I challenged the congregations that we can be the provider of water to those people who are having water withheld due to climate change. This Christian Aid Week, we can all support communities like Rose’s.  If you would like to make a contribution, please donate at [www.caweek.org](https://www.christianaid.org.uk/appeals/key-appeals/christian-aid-week) Christian Aid Week film 2021 featuring Florence. The film was originally to be released for the 2020 CAW churches film but due to the pandemic was pushed back to 2021. From everyone at the three worship centres of St Francis. we want to thank John for his ministry and we wishes them both a very happy retirement. A farewell party was held for John & Rosemary on Wednesday 11 June.  Those who attended included representatives of the Roman Catholic community with whom we share San Blas church, who presented John with a beautiful stole for use in his continuing ministry.  We also welcomed friends from our sister church of All Saints, Puerto de la Cruz, and others from church and community.    The better weather has also reminded us of how long it has been since we were in Tenerife and how much we look forward to returning and being able to join in the worship at San Blas together with sharing a coffee (or a beer!) together again. We pray the rollout of the vaccination programme will be extended to embrace all, particularly those in nations less wealthy and where vaccine manufacture does not take place. We give especial thanks to God for all those agencies and individuals struggling to manage the pandemic in such places. The church has made almost monthly donations of food and toiletries to the Order of Nuns in both Santiago del Teide and Vilaflor who support the more disadvantaged and elderly in those communities. Once a month we have a food collection in all of the churches in addition to the food we buy. Our charity shop in Los Gigantes also collects extra money to be spent on food stuffs and supplies blankets etc to be be given out to the needy. Each Centre is so grateful for what we do for them, it is a pleasure to visit them and also see the valuable work they are doing in the community. We will surely be known in the world by how we love and care for one another; we are seen. 'She looks into your eyes and gives your soul a hug' I was deeply moved because I know that the statement is true. How did that get to be so? I know her life story; the enduring love of Jesus through many hardships, pain, losses, triumphs and victories but also the quiet humility that says 'not I but the Lord' How wonderful to have a heart so moulded by Jesus that it can be seen so clearly by those looking on. This Lent may all our hearts will be so changed and moulded by our Saviour that others will 'feel the hug'. - [Home](/ "Home") - [San Blas](/san-blas "San Blas") - [San Eugenio](/san-eugenio "San Eugenio") - Alban’s Anglican Church, I worked with the Conference of European Churches’ Church and Society Commission in the Council of Europe and the European Parliament.  Following those years, I was appointed Provost (= English Dean) of Inverness Cathedral where I worked for ten years until my final appointment as Chaplain of Holy Trinity Geneva from which after six years I retired in 2020.  We returned to Tain in the north of Scotland, in the diocese in which I have served for 27 years of my ministry.  Since then I have continued to serve in the Diocese in Europe as a locum priest and as a Vocations advisor, and as an occasional stand in here in my home church. Geraldine (who is sadly unable to come with me on this occasion to Tenerife due to various home commitments) and I have been married for 46 years.  Geraldine has spent her working life in the field of tax – first with HMRC and later as a Tax Consultant for a number of Accountancy firms.  We have three adult children, and six grandchildren.   I am very much looking forward to meeting you all in the very near future, worshipping with you over the coming two months, and getting to know you during what I know for you is a difficult time of transition as you begin the process of seeking a new Chaplain - [Home](/ "Home") - [San Blas](/san-blas "San Blas") - [San Eugenio](/san-eugenio "San Eugenio") - [Los Gigantes](/los-gigantes "Los Gigantes") - [Home](/ "Home") - [San Blas](/san-blas "San Blas") - [San Eugenio](/san-eugenio "San Eugenio") - [Los Gigantes](/los-gigantes "Los Gigantes") - [Resources](/resources "Resources") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Safeguarding Policy](/safeguarding-policy "Safeguarding Policy") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Resources](/resources "Resources") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Safeguarding Policy](/safeguarding-policy "Safeguarding Policy") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") --- ## URL: https://www.anglicanchurchtenerife.com/suscribe-exit-intend-popup ### Title: Suscribe Exit intend Popup ### Page ID: 7306365 ### Content: You are receiving this newsletter because you have subscribed to anglicanchurchtenerife.com You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, limitation and deletion of data at vicar@anglicanchurchtenerife.com as well as the right to file a complaint with a supervisory authority. I saw a YouTube video recently about Adam and Eve's role in creation. The clip stressed how Adam was created in Eden and then taken to the garden to fulfil his purpose. He could converse with all of creation and could call out different animal to Glorify God and marvel at His Greatness together and be filled with wonder. This made me think that indeed our Soul was originally conceived amongst other things to interact and bond with God's creation, especially animals. And its true that pretty much every single interaction I have ever had with this little creature has brought not just a smile to my face, but of peace that can only come from the soul. We are a team. Different species, same reason to interact: Love Sometimes, when I think of guardian angels and the good angels that serve the Lord in Heaven, I think maybe they see us a bit like pets. Like maybe they think we are strange but cute and sometimes drive them crazy with extra work but just love the Lord's reflection in us. Maybe it makes heaven smile an extra smile sometimes when we get it right and just love Him back, and our pets are here to help. Whilst we all know that this is true, I want to press the case that DOGS are very special amongst the creatures that God created. There is a cartoon that crops up on Facebook from time time which supports my case very well: God is holding a cute puppy whilst talking to St Peter, and says “I made them without wings so that nobody would know they are angels.”  Who but our loving Father, who made mankind in his own image, could have dreamt of giving us the wonderful creatures that are dogs? Anyone who has ever loved, and been loved by, a dog will surely attest that there is no more loving, caring, faithful, loyal, intelligent, welcoming and fun companion than a dog; and they don´t have to be taught these traits, they are born with them as God's gift to their owners. Although most family dogs love all the members of the family, the dog itself usually 'owns´ a particular member. My own precious Ellie 'owned´ her Daddy, my darling husband Tom, and when he died, Ellie missed him just as much as I. Although I fed her, walked her, cared for her and tried to comfort her in our shared loss, she spent two weeks with her chin on her paws before she came to me for attention, obviously having then decided that I was now her human. Since that day, all her traits have been invested in me, She\`s at the door to welcome me with a very waggy tail and very sloppy kisses if ever I have been out without her, which is as seldom as I can possibly make it. She welcomes all my (her) friends as if she hasn't seen them for weeks, she comes to comfort me if I am upset or feeling unwell, she jumps up onto my lap for big cuddles and sleeps on my bed, often with her head on her Daddy´s pillow. We didn't teach Ellie to be polite, but she's very gentle, and never snatches when she's offered a dog treat or a morsel of whatever I or her friends are eating. I contend that dogs are very much God's creations, given especially to mankind as comforters, companions, friends and helpmates in times of need, and I thank God for giving me and all mankind such wonderful gifts. Every day I am reminded of God’s beautiful creation when I look at my pets. Maxie, my lively little chihuahua, brings job with her playful spirit, while Luna, my gentle tortoiseshell cat, shows the quiet grace of God’s hand in nature. Then there is Leo, my adopted Siamese, whose affectionate nature is a blessing and a reminder of the love that comes through second chances. Together, they reflect the wonder, variety and tenderness of God’s creation in my home. - [Home](/ "Home") - [San Blas](/san-blas "San Blas") - [San Eugenio](/san-eugenio "San Eugenio") - [Los Gigantes](/los-gigantes "Los Gigantes") - [Home](/ "Home") - [San Blas](/san-blas "San Blas") - [San Eugenio](/san-eugenio "San Eugenio") - [Los Gigantes](/los-gigantes "Los Gigantes") - [Resources](/resources "Resources") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Safeguarding Policy](/safeguarding-policy "Safeguarding Policy") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Resources](/resources "Resources") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Safeguarding Policy](/safeguarding-policy "Safeguarding Policy") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") --- ## URL: https://www.anglicanchurchtenerife.com/rev-robert-ellis ### Title: Rev Robert Ellis ### Page ID: 8157108 ### Content: # Rev Robert Ellis "I'm looking forward to joining you on Sunday. I've got my alb, stole, sermons and bucket and spade ready to hit Tenerife running! Both your previous locums, Alex and Richard have said what a lovely lot you all are so I'm looking forward to meeting you.  Perhaps a little bit of my pedigree might be helpful so that you know what you're getting. I'm a Yorkshire man from Sheffield, trained at King's College London, St Augustine's College Canterbury and post graduate at Christ Church College Canterbury. Then it was ordination on Merseyside at Liverpool Parish Church followed by Religious Programmes Producer at the BBC and then 20 years as Communications Officer for the Bishop of Lichfield, living near Uttoxeter in Staffordshire. Before I retired in 2011 I was the Anglican Chaplain on Mallorca for 11 years. Since then I seem to have been quite busy doing locum duty in Menorca, Corfu, Costa del Sol, Lisbon, Porto, Algarve, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and even the poor folk of All Saints Church in Puerto de la Cruz managed to put up with me on three occasions.....I think they must have been desperate. I arrive with my wife, Caroline, who usually manages to keep me under control but any complaints about me should be aimed in her direction and she will sort me out!! - [Home](/ "Home") - [San Blas](/san-blas "San Blas") - [San Eugenio](/san-eugenio "San Eugenio") - [Los Gigantes](/los-gigantes "Los Gigantes") - [Home](/ "Home") - [San Blas](/san-blas "San Blas") - [San Eugenio](/san-eugenio "San Eugenio") - [Los Gigantes](/los-gigantes "Los Gigantes") - [Resources](/resources "Resources") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Safeguarding Policy](/safeguarding-policy "Safeguarding Policy") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Resources](/resources "Resources") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Safeguarding Policy](/safeguarding-policy "Safeguarding Policy") - [Daily Prayer](/daily-prayer "Daily Prayer") - [Sermons](/sermons "Sermons") - [Wedding Blessings](/wedding-blessings "Wedding Blessings") - [Baptisms](/baptisms "Baptisms") - [Funerals](/funerals "Funerals") - [Charity Shop](/charity-shop "Charity Shop") - [Giving](/giving "Giving") - [Blog](/blog-2 "Blog") - [Hymns](/hymns "Hymns") - [Gallery](/gallery "Gallery") - [Poems](/poems "Poems") --- ## URL: https://www.anglicanchurchtenerife.com/canon-perran-gay ### Title: Canon Perran Gay ### Page ID: 8379740 ### Content: # Canon Perran Gay It’s a joy to be able to spend 10 weeks with you all from Advent to Candlemas, and especially to celebrate the joy of Christmas together. I’ve not been to Tenerife before, but have served a couple of times within your Archdeaconry as a locum chaplain at Nerja on the Costa del Sol. My active ministry was all within the Diocese of Truro in my native Cornwall, as a curate at Bodmin, as Bishop’s Chaplain, and then for 21 years as a residentiary canon of Truro Cathedral, where my particular role was to supervise the worship and music of the Cathedral. I also served on the Church of England’s General Synod and a handful of national committees and commissions. In 2015, my wife Rainy and I moved to the Isles of Scilly where I served as Chaplain for 7 years, and where we are now based in retirement. We love walking, bird watching, and generally being in the great outdoors, and so are much looking forward to discovering the delights of Tenerife during our stay. And we also love being with church communities large and small and sharing in their joys and sorrows, especially at times when they are waiting for the appointment of a new permanent priest. We are therefore asking any church member who is currently listed on the electoral roll and, ideally, lives at least fifty percent of the year in Tenerife, to apply for this vacant position if they feel qualified and interested. Please note that the warden is a warden of the Chaplaincy, which has three places of worship, and therefore the appointed person/s will be expected to devote time and travel to all places of worship within the Chaplaincy.
